I just picked up my 1996 H1 4dr hardtop last week, drove it back from upper Ohio on Lake Erie back to Southern New Jersey. It has less then 80K on the clock and it needs a little TLC. It's a driver, not a garage queen. Tires are choppy, arm rests are broken, no visible body rust, and it runs sweet. I used to swear that diesels were the spawn of Satan, yes I love Top Gear, but it sure fits the H1 image. I'm doing some mechanical catch ups--fluids and general maintenance but so far there haven't been any suprises. I work very close to home so driving it every day is a short thrill unless I find erands to drive this monster. My wife has been driving her H2 since 2003 and now it's my turn to show her up. I guess my neighbors must think I'm pretty presumptious owning two Hummer products and living in a blue collar neighborhood....Ha Ha,they're right baby!
I do want to ask about the arm rests though. Do Jeep rests fit and which models and years can I use?
