yea we went to New hampshire last year with two up trailer and got like 13 miles to a gal , Rolling about 80 the whole way!!!

We did close to 400 miles all said and done on sleds that weekend!

 

I don't miss that place a whole lot but when it comes to things like this .. I do have to admit there were SOME benefits to living over there I guess .. the backcountry snowmobiling being one of them ... and flying gliders in the mountains *sighs* ...

 

Hi everyone! I also have a 03 H2 and started to track fuel use inSept last year. 35569 miles on my hummer currently. Best MPG was 13.946MPG on a weekend trip to Universal in Orlando. The worse was 8.178. The truck mainly sits now, used on weekends mostly. Was my wife's daily runner until gas hit $3+ last year and we decided to buy a roadster. The fuel saved pays the the 2-seater and fuels it--If I average the MPG over the 5 months it comes to 10.7597MPG--

 

I got up to 12.1 mpg over the weekend. Just rolled over 45,000 on my "05 SUT

 

Guys (and gals)- I love the trucks, especially the H1's. But this thread makes me hurt. I've got about a 24 mile commute to work. So, at nominal or slightly better mpg for an H2, I would use 2 gallons to get there and 2 gallons to get back. 4 gallons. Which at AL pricing is about $10 just to get from work to home. Not counting lunch trips. I guess it's just a matter of perspective. My perspective iscommuting in my Corolla and grannying it to get ~40 mpg.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bagging the H2. There's a new one that just showed up in the parking lot, and it looks fantastic.

Also, from time to time, I put together a side job. A haul. I'll transport *something* from near where I live, to any particular place. And then from near that particular place, I'll pick up *something else* and transport it back toward where I live. I can make anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 on one of these weekends. I use my Cummins Ram and tow a 24' enclosed trailer. During this haul, I try every trick in the book to get 13.5 mpg.

I run 65 mph on the interstate in 6th gear, to use less fuel. Like I said, I target 13.5 mpg, but usually wind up averaging right at 13.0 mpg. I'm usually towing anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 lbs. depending on what's in the trailer. That's a GCW or 12,000 to 17,000 lbs. And the truck tows that with ease, pulls up hills without needing to shift. The truck is modded. Dyno'd at 315 h.p. / 660 ft. lbs. It's a heck of a truck.

I really like the H2's, and the H1's even more, but will have to justadmire them from a distance I guess.

They just aren't the kind of vehicles you buy if gas mileage is an issue. I'd say I spend about 5-6 bucks/day just to go back and forth to work, and probably another 80 or so every other weekend just out playin' ... It's a fun vehicle to own .. but unfortunately most fun things tend to be a bit expensive .. there's your trade off ... is it transportation or is it a "toy", I'd say the later .. shy of my old SRT-10 this is the most fun vehicle I've ever owned!!!

 

a tahoe has several mileage advantages if you are speaking of a new '07 tahoe. 6 speed tranny, better aerodynamics by far than the H2, NOT full time 4 wheel drive, and lighter, plus smaller engine. I had an '06 Escalade for a while when my truck was being diddled with at the shop, and its mileage waspretty similar tothe H2s. But i think again the '07 Escalades will be superior for the same reasons.

In summer weatherI consistently got 14-something for a mix of highway/city and highway-inside-city miles.

In the winter it was 11-12, mostly short highway trips & town miles.

The mileage at 55 for a long stretch has always been 15-16+, falling as speed goes up. I don't think i've ever gotten 15 at 75, maybe 13-14 if not buckinga strong headwind, 10 once bucking a 40mph head/crosswind at 75, which was sucky.

The prius, city, in the summer got 50's
The prius, city, in the winter got high 20's to low 30's
Highway, prius, any weather, 75mph is about 40 or a bit less (sometimes 30, sometimes 45, depends on the wind)

i think its as funny as can be. its an easy way to start a conversation. I need a bumper sticker on the back of my hummer that says "i brake for hybrids" and one on the prius that says "i believe nature is best experienced through the windshield of my hummer"

 

I get 10-11 MPG in the H2 City and 14 MPG on the Highway at 80 MPH......Flat run w/no boat in tow......

12 MPG with 24ft Wellcraft in tow.....at 70 MPH........Not that Brave.....LOL

My wife gets 14city and 16 highway w/H3

She has never drove mine, and i don't fit in hers (H-3)
