Looks like an initial round of 25 military HMMWVs are going to be auctioned tomorrow afternoon.

If anyone was interested, watching the auction as it unfolded for curiosity, the lowest selling price was 21k and the highest was 42k. The newest was a 1995 M998A1 and the oldest was 1988 1038 I think.

 

Yeah I followed it because I'm interested. Would this be a good price? I'd like to maybe pick one up and restore it completely, make it roadworthy, nice interior, and drive it (I live in the Middle East so I think I would be able to road register it somehow, even though they come without papers).

If there's any connaisseurs out there: What would be restoration costs, are parts easily available? How come there's such a big price difference between the Humvee and the H1? Any particular models more interesting or valuable than the others?

I'm new to Hummers but always been intrigued. Thx for all the info.

There are numerous companies that restore military Humvees. The parts are generally available, moreso for some configurations than others. I have seen restored trucks sell from 35K to 100K so restoration costs of anywhere from 15-80K.
