Default Mass Air Flow Senor Update

I've had to drive an unusual amount of highway miles lately.Last week I serviced my K&N Filter andI recalled someone (TV, mag,.... don't remember) saying inspect the mass air sensor -removed it (two screws) and it looked clean.

Isprayed it with carb cleaner (wrong), allowed it dry and reinstalled. Don't know if one trip justifies it, but my mileage went up 1.25 mpg. I drovein the same manner (75-80 mph) and the outside temp was hotter than previous trips.

Thanks to Steve #1 and D Vader"Use electrical contact cleaner or MAF Sensor cleaner"

I just cleaned my filter this weekend. Cleaning the filter and the MAF does give you better performance, at least for me. This is the second time I have done it since I've had it and I notice a difference. I have mine for about 15k to 20k miles before I cleaned it the second time

DO NOT use carb cleaner on a MAF Sensor!

Use electrical contact cleaner or MAF Sensor cleaner (can't remember the brand name but most dealerships carry it in a 4-6 oz can). Spray the cleaner on to wash the gunk off, let it dry and put it back together. Do not touch the wire with your fingers, a wire brush, a Q-tip, a paper towel, a rag, or anything else.
