Default Marker Lights

Hi,

I'm wanting to change out the roof lights and the side marker lights to smoked ones. I found some Recon food lights online and they are exactly what I'm looking for, but am I asking for trouble by changing them out as far as the seal and leaks are concerned? I don't want to replace them and then have leaks! For the side markers, it appears as though they are hard wired in from what I've seen and read online. There are a lot of smoked replacements, but are they just covers that screw on top of the OEM ones?

Look forward to reading the replies. Thanks in advance!

I went with roof lights from Putco (Amazon Aff. Link) that are supposedly an exact fit. My local performance shop who did them said that all these (most brands) are notorious for not fitting properly or leaking. They said even the Putcos while better than most still didn't fit exactly so they did use lots of sealent.

I've had them on for a year now with no issues. Every light on my vehicle has been replaced with LED units.

if you haven't sealed the roof marker lights yet (mainly the front corners) you will eventually as almost everyone has had leaks there sooner or later so seal the new ones or seal the old ones

What would you recommend as a sealant?

Side markers are not hardwired in. The fronts are easily disconnected from inside the hood. The rears are another story. I believe the disconnect is under the interior wheel well trim. You can't pull the harness out if you remove the side marker because the wires are held in place with clips. I eventually gave up when I was trying to install side marker bezels and sold them.....
