Default Manual To Automatic swap

Is it possible to swap from a manual to automatic transmission on a 2006 H3?

I have a 15 year old who is going to be driving it and would feel much more comfortable with auto.

Ive restored 15 cars in the past 10-12 years. I can handle it, if its possible.

Thanks!!!!

With they electronic systems in the H3, I don't think it's gonna work easily. Going to an old school, manually controlled automatic transmission would probably be the easiest way to do it but without a lot of BCM reprogramming the dash is going to be a Christmas tree.

The 2006 auto has an ECM and TCM separate.
Besides the different pedal for the brake.

I learned to drive on a 4 speed manual and I'm a better driver for it. You pay more attention when driving because you have too.

It would definitely be a pain.

I understand about learning on a stick.

But can it be done?

New ECM, TCM, Brake Pedal, Auto Tranny. Anything else to consider?

I probably wont do it but its possible. If its possible.

Thanks for the replies.

I wish I knew, I haven't heard of anyone doing that yet. I wish I had a manual, when shopping for mine I had been told that the clutch in the AR5 was a little undersized. I don't know if its true, but I sure miss driving a stick.

Let the kid learn on a stick. I too learned on a stick with no power steering or brakes and a 4 speed in the floor. I was going to buy an 08 H3 5 speed but couldn't get it for the price I wanted.

My guess is the easiest way to make that swap involves a used car dealer and a trade-in.
