I just bought a new 08 and it didn't come with the cross bars, I was thinking of looking for a set of them, where do you live? Maybe we could work something out?
I don't actually think I'll use them, but they look cool!

You loosen the ***** on each end of the crossbar and then slide them all the way back ( could be all the way forward, its been awhile ) where you can simply lift them out of the track..its easy to do

On my '05 there are some plastic stoppers at the end of the rear track, one on each side. I have to snap those off before I can remove the racks.

This is correct. I've also seen cases where removing the rear clearance lamps will make the job easier.
