Loud Noise Around 60-75 mph. Need Help!
I recently had my windshield replaced by a national glass company. At approx 50mph, it was so noisy I could barely hear myself think. I took it back and they took out the windshield and put in another one. I was told that the first one didn't have a good seal. With this second windshield, at approx 50mph, it was still incredibly noisy. I took it back again and made the installer get in the car with me and listen to the noise. At first he tried to tell me that this was the way that it sounded when I brought it in to have the windshield replaced the first time. Then the story changed to that this was a common issue with Hummers (mine is an H3) and that all H3s sound this way. Uhmmmm NO! We have two H3s and the other doesn't sound like this. This time they apparently glued down the black pieces of molding around the windshield. According to the installer, I'm going to have a heck of a time if I ever need to have the windshield replaced again. Great. I will know tonight on the way home, if it is quieter or not. At this point, I am really regretting not taking the car to the dealership to have the windshield replaced. I didn't in the first place because the dealership is 2.5hrs from me and who would have thought that it was going to be this much of a hassle to have SafeL*te replace the windshield.
guys
I can not believe what i read. Do you really mean that with a bunch of silicone I can fix the noise around the window that was there for the last 4 years?
Can someone make a picture and post it to show where exactly I have to put the silicone?
regards

I bought mine and heard the same noise on my way home. I stopped by the dealer and they said there is double side tape keeping the right and left A Post trim against the windshield. It gets old and releases. They replaced it and I never heard it again. Silicone would work too and is probably longer lasting. I'll try silicone if mine fails again after the warrantee is up. The dealer said they all will do it eventually, when they do it depends on the time out in the weather vs. time parked in a garage.
