maybe I didnt look at my sticker close enough, but what chrome stuff did the lux package include, I paid extra for all my chrome???

ORIGINAL: kild1

if ur not gonna offroad it... no need for the adv. package except for the resale value
i dont have the adv. package.. our 06 was adv/cloth seats / no chrome or sunroof
so if yadont get the adv. use that extra money for thelux package and you can always
sell the chrome stuff and add the black stuff back

just a thought

ur gonna love the 3 either way

There was no chrome that I know of that came with the Lux. package (unless you are talking about the front grill which is standard). The chrome package and/or chrome wheels were extra. I actually went the other way and paid for the body color grill.

Wow, you're a jerk.
Nice response. I wasn't whining. There were plenty of posts on here within that time frame within the same forum.
If you have nothing positive to offer try ignoring the post next time.

I was just saying thank you for responding and trying to answer my questions.
You couldn't answer the ones about the stick and you don't have the stock audio equipment so you couldn't really answer that one either.
Jeez some of you folks are a bit sensitive around here.

Thank you very much for the response.
I'm not *too* concerned about the acceleration, I just wanted to know if it as well as the gas mileage was better with the stick. I used to be a speedster, but not anymore.
All of the reviews I've read were about the automatic. I am considering the lux pkg, it's just that the super audio system will most likely go to waste on me since for the most part I only listen to a couple of radio talk shows and baseball games.

Thanks. I can't wait to get the H3. I'm just trying to make sure I get the right one for me.

hummer.com lists the chrome package (side mirrors and door handles) as coming with the lux package. On my invoice the two items were separate. Maybe they changed it when they changed the 07 H3s moving the switches up the door handle. Mine's an older H3 with the window switches further back.

Thanks for the reply.
I've had 5 cars over time and all but the blazer was a stick, I miss driving a stick.

Spending the extra 2-3k for the adventure package doesn't make sense for me since I will not be taking it off-road. I'd love the luxury pkg but all I want from it is the seats, that's a waste of money for me.
I'll just determine whether or not I need the amp and sub, I'll just need to transfer it from my blazer should I find the need for it.

Thanks for trying.

I just picked up a 2007 H3 Base with Adventure package and 5-Speed Manual. I sold my 350Z Track 6-Speed which I had for 70,000+ very happy miles. This is the first truck I have ever owned and have had mainly 2-seat sports cars (Corvette, Z3, Boxster - all manual transmissions) so this was a big shift for me. I wanted a 5-speed because 1) I thought it would get slightly better gas mileage and 2) I do still like to shift for myself and believe it can make driving more fun in most conditions other than stop-and-go traffic. Based on that background here are my responses to your questions:

1. I only have 1800 miles and I'm still on the original oil, my MPG has been around 16-17.5 combined city/highway at 70-75 mph cruising and shifting at 2500 rpm in the city. This does not seem any better than what I've seen reported on the MPG threads of other members, the vast majority of which have automatics. However, I do believe it will get better when the engine breaks in more, I change oil and probably add a Cold Air Intake (CAI) and perhaps a freer-flowing exhaust (likely a Magnaflow because I want the most performance with the least noise and this appears to be the cat-back for those goals). If I can put mods together that get me around 20 mpg on the highway and a combined average around 18 I would be quite pleased.

2. Regarding quickness, it certainly is not fast compared to sports cars. However, I no longer care about going fast on the street. I used to take my high-performance motorcycles on road race courses and there is no better satisfaction for a real speed nut than that, IMHO. The H3 is frankly quite slow in casual driving, although I saw an online review that rated a 2007 5-speed (the 2007 engine is supposedly up22 HP on the 2006 motor) at 8.8 seconds 0-60mph. This is quite acceptable to me for what it is and certainly enough to keep pace with traffic. I can't zip in and out of holes in traffic like I used to, but again, that is no longer my concern. I have read tests that put the automatic about 1 - 1.5 seconds slower in acceleration.

3. The stock base stereo is just fine for me. I've heard audiophile quality systems but IMHO a vehicle is the last place to enjoy full-frequency, balanced audio because of all the extraneous noise factors. The H3 stock system lacks a subwoofer but frankly has about the same sound performance as the Bose system in the 350Z Touring (which my Track model did not have). Compared to the base 350Z audio system it sounds like the premium-upgrade system. Common complaints are that it only has 2 EQ adjustments, a wide sweep Bass and Treble control. I would prefer a bit more control to better dial in the tone, but the volume seems to be adequate with the stock power and overall balance is decent with a just a bit too much midrange that is generally compensated by boosting the treble control. If you wanted to improve the sound it probably would be simplest to change out the speakers and amp but keep the head unit to properly interface with your Onstar, door chimes, and other factory alerts.

The best bet would be to go to your Hummer dealer and test drive a 5-speed for acceleration and listen to the base audio system and compare it to the Monsoon. I did that and was happy with the base H3 with Adventure package and 5-speed. You may not go off-roading right now, but who knows, you may get into it (like I am contemplating) and people have told me that the manual transmission with Adventure package is the best combination for serious off-road performance.

Overall, I am truly pleased with the H3. The looks are fantastic, especially with the mods I've made to my Black/Black H3 (Starr HID lights, Hummer Off-Road Light Bar, Silver roof racks, Chrome side steps, Chrome handle covers, Polished Stainless brush guard (added today!), mud guards and polished stainless lower bumper letter inserts. It rides very smoothlycompared to my 350Z (the non-Advent
