I am looking to buy an H1, I know a decent amount about them, but it is all general info. I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the interior to the same as the Alpha interiors that are in the 2006 models. Also I would want to do an engine swap and don't know if anyone had any good ideas on types of engines or tranny's. I am partial to duramax, but I have heard that cummins can also fit.

 

Duramax and Cummins will both work in the H1 with some modifications. You can put an 06 interior in the older trucks but it is very expensive. If you were going to buy an older truck and drop in a Duramax/Allison and do the interior swap you would be better off just buying an Alpha.

 

What would be the best route as far as putting the 06 interior into an older h1?

 

First thing would be to see if you can buy all of the interior pieces you need to do the swap. Not even sure if things like the shifter handles are in the exact same place. On the older trucks the door lock and window controls are in the door panel. On the Alphas those swithces are on the center console so you would need to re-route some wiring.

 

I have a 2001 Tan H1 I have to consider letting go, I also have a friend who has a tweeked Cummings for sale, I am in Canada and unfortunately have been overseas for two years. I am forced to let my Hummer go to a new stable. Let me know what your dollar figure is and I will let you know if your in the ballpark. Suspect I can get the Cummings from my buddy for around 3G Canuck.
