Default Looking at an '08 H3 Alpha

So I found an '08 H3 Alpha and I am seriously considering buying it. This will be my first Hummer and I am concerned about the fact that the brand maybe going away and what to do if something breaks. I am mostly concerned about all the plastic. If say the fender gets cracked how hard/expensive is it to find after market parts? I don't want to invest in a vehicle that I will be unable to fix if something cosmetic breaks. My understanding is that the mechanical parts are standard GM parts and would not be an issue to replace (that is the line the salesman sold me any way). So again how hard is it to find parts for body work and interior? Thanks for the insight...

well.. I work parts at a gm dealer, gm will keep parts for about ten years maybe more depending on year. not sure how much aftermarket parts are out there now now for exterior.
you might check keystone to see what they offer.
same kind of concerns came up on oldsmobiles when they were closing.

08 has lots of warranty left. And from what I have heard parts will be around. Go for it!

The lease on my '08 Alpha is up in 6 more weeks, and I can't wait, because I plan on buying it outright! I love it!

Thank you for all your input. I am looking at 2 Alpha's (the only 2 I could find in my area).

1 is stripped out. No roof rack, no running boards, no towing package, no nav, nothing.... 30k miles - They are asking $25,800+TTL (w/running boards).

2 is fully loaded. Roof rack, running boards, brush guard, nav, backup cam, towing package... 17k miles - They are asking $28,500+TTL

IMO number 2 is the one I would go with. It is only 3k more and has everything, however I am not sure if even that is a good price. I am having a hell of a time finding compairisons. I saw the "How much did you pay?" thread but it was not very helpful because the range is 12-2008 to 1-2010 (here). So what are your thoughts on the price? Thanks for the insight (again).

That second choice I am assuming is an Alpha also- that is pretty spot on from what I have noticed around here. Most dealers would charge for the second one at least 31-32 (and that would be reasonable--- I think that is a GREAT price for all those bonuses you get

Thank you all for the information. I am now the proud new owner of a '08 H3 Alpha (Stocked to the hilt with extras).... For those out there looking for price comps. I got it for $28,500+TTL and it has everything I can think of. Running boards, brush guard, towing package, nav system, backup camera, roof rack, alarm/remote start. I wish I could have talked them down more. They only came down $1,400 but with the lack of a selection (2 Alpha's in the 3 surrounding states) and the options I can't complain. I am excited to get it dirty (if my wife will let me). Thanks again for all the feedback. Hummerforums.com is now in my favorites.
