Long term member first post
I would like to thank everyone for the great assistance thru the years from this site. I am on my second H3. First one was a Black 2008 with the 5 cylinder (340,000 miles) sold it to another Hummer fan. Still ran great by the way. I had to buy a newer one with 178,000 easy driven miles.
The new one is a 2008 Alpha. It is creeping up on 300K now. I have had a few Maintenace issues in the past and this site has been my go-to. So instead of just trolling I thought I would let those who contribute know how much your input is appreciated. The only trouble I have had has been Transmissions. I get about 100k out of them. I run the engines on Mobil 1 and they are solid with no oil burn. Recently I added a new exhaust system. (Forced to pass emission in my area) eliminated the 4 cat converters and added two performance cats with glass packs. It has a healthy sound, I got replaced the factory radio with a Sony XAV-AX5500 (Crutchfield technical support was great. Told me what wires to connect and connect to old harness) I also have been getting a TPS sensor and low tire error. Replaced the sensors with VDO redi-Sensors (around $50 each). The tire shop mechanic said he couldn't reprogram them after installing because he needed the parking brake to function. I just took the negative terminal off when I got home, and unit reset.
Special thanks to the Forum posts on how to take off the negative terminal for 30 minutes and reinstalling. The first time I unplugged the battery the new radio didn't work. I used the forum advice, and I am now good to go. Thank You for such a great wealth of knowledge on a great vehicle!!!
