I just started hearing a little bump when I start off from a dead stop. I do not hear it every time but just started. You can tell it is from the rear of the truck. Any Ideas? universal joint?

 

lots of snow here but if you can find a dry spot, go under and wiggle the rear u joint/shaft. you can tell if its the joint or the ring and pinion. !
if you get on and off the gas while rolling you might feel it if not all the time, I have a theory. when the engine is running good, and hot, normal I don't feel anything but when cold or not fully warmed up I sometime feel a bump when im on/off, in between and I think the rpms drop alittle quicker and the normal play shows up. till its hot.
kinda hard to explane but I do on occasion feel that.
also if you drift back slightly coming off the brake it might feel the play.

 

Ok I had to share this on what I found on my little bump when taking off. The weather here has been cold and crappy so there has been no way that I have had any chance to check this out knowing that it might be something major. Well I have found the problem. I have a guy that washes my truck week on Friday so when I come home she is clean and I do not have to waste my time and she is ready to go. Well for some strange reason he did close the spare tire latch right but at lease had the safety cable hooked. so every once in a while wen I took off there was my little bump. You could hear it in the year but just not where. So that is all it was. I knew it was a noise I had never heard before but at least it was not something major.
