Default A little Alpha advice

As some of you know I have an 08 leased base H3. I recently came into contact with my preferred dealer here in CT, Karl Hummer, and they told me they have an 08 Alpha on their lot for the price of $31,727. I have about 1 year remaining on the lease or about $3500. The sales lady told me should could wave about $1500 of it and then finance the remaining into the new Alpha.

The Alpha is a 2008 with about 24k miles. Navi/Leather/sunroof all the goodies. Just wondering what others think of this pricing and if it would be a good deal or not. I have always wanted the Alpha

Thanks.

Based on what I was offered used and new as far as alphas when I bought my h3 6 months ago. They are over charging you by about 3k even with the cash you owe in payments on your current lease. If you really care about having a v8 then you have to get a alpha or champion edition which there is most likely none available of those. If you need features just get a base model with all the packages. Reason being you pay a big premium for those alpha badges and the v8 engine.
Best of luck and work the crap out of your deal!

Looking over some autotrader and ebay prices it does appear to be about 2-3 over, but that can be expected with this dealer.

I was thinking the same thing of going with a base and then having all the extras, but I don't know why but I just have a crush on the Alpha..

Interesting. I had not thought about Carmax before, as I remember they do ship cars for a little price usually. The biggest question obviously would be what they can do to get out of a lease, but Carmax has been known to make deals pretty well.

My old car I put on swapalease.com and leasetrader.com it took me a month to get rid of my car. The problems you may come in to trying to trade it off is you are nearing the end of your lease people may not want it with only a year left.Potentially GMAC may not let you I believe they have a rule about time period on lease transfer. Its something to look into but you may end up in better shape with a dealer stuffing the remaining lease time into your financing. You do strongly face the chance of being upside down financially in your "new" used truck. It is 2 years old now since you said its a 2008 with the dealer over charging and having to roll the cost of your old truck into payment. If in 2-3 years you want to sell your truck you will most likely owe more then your going to get. Hummer potentially shutting down doesnt help any of us either haha. Sorry to throw all this negative junk on you but I feel its better to be ready then to get blind sided especially when a good amount of money is involved.

I am not sure if values decrease on these vehicles that much when Hummer closes, if Hummer closes. Especially down the road it would seem these would become more wanted as supply dwindles. I also don't expect to sell in a few years unless I am flat broke .

As far as GMAC goes, every dealer I have talked to they said there is about a $2-4000 gap in the amount that would have to either be rolled or paid out of pocket to trade in. I am far from being in a rush to do anything right now, but having the satisfaction of owning my truck and actually being able to drive without mileage restrictions would be nice. 1 year left and roughly 11k left in mileage allowance.

I bought my 2008 Alpha w/ 28K miles for $23K.

I had the vehicle checked with a mechanic just to make sure I didn't get the wrong end of the stick. My rig works, looks good, and seems to have no issues.

It came with the luxury pkg so, no navi.

Towing pkg
Moon roof
leather
backup camera
Chrome wheels/mirrors/handles
and new tires (I sold them for $400 to get new 35")

I think for 31K, that's not a good deal for you.

Look around for a better deal on an Alpha or Champ, but do it and do it soon, there is not that many around and they are getting older each and every day. You will not be disappointed in the V8, it is an awesome engine and really motivates the H3, it feels so good.
