Default Line-x'd H3 Grille

Anyone here familiar with the estimated price to line-x the H3 grille? I got a quote the other day to get it sprayed with that Rhino lining stuff for $200, sounded pretty steep for just a grille. [sm=feedback.gif]

I got a quote at a local body shop to have my chrome grille painted black. The quote for for $200. Line X is expensive. They gave me a price of $200 to line the 20" deck of mylawnmower.

I'm gonna call another shop to see if they charge the same. I guess $60-80 was wishful thinking[:@]

I know a couple guys who have done it themselves. They both used DupliColor Truck Bed Liner, which I had used on my old 65 Chevy C20, the stuff goes on great, looks good, and is pretty tough. If you get a scratch, you can touch it up very easily. The Grills come off without too much hassel, you just have to scuff up the chrome with scotch brite or say 80 grit paper, and spray on two coats. Put it back on after it dries.

Couple hour weekend project (not includingdry time), and would be less than $40.00.

does the duplicolor stuff look smooth or gritty/bumpy? Will it chip/scratch from tiny rocks on the highway or only when its banged around in the brush?

Well it is not smooth. It is like a solid crinkle finish. I have a pic of one of the two(Chris..I got a bunch more, PM me and I'll send em)that has done this, and yeah this pic kinda suck so far as trying to detail the grill job he did (and it does look good), but if you look at the top in the sun, you can see where his green hood ends and the grill starts and see the texture... copy it and zoom in, you will get the idea. Otherwise..... way cool pic.
