Default Lease to buy?

I can lease an H3 Alpha for $500/mth for 3 years, then pay the remaining 23k or so to own it if I want. Anyone see any issues with that vs dishing out 40k upfront?

Total the lease payments plus deposit, with the buy out at lease end. Compare that to the purchase price. I think you would be paying approx $1600.00 extra to lease first then buy, but gives you the option to walk away at the end of the lease if you want somethin else? I got no issues with that?

i have leased the last two trucks i bought, but with me,i was about 6-10k upside down due to be young and stupid, but my truck will be due next year and then i can buy it for 12k,it will have less then 50k miles on it,so i figure i will keep it.but other then that,im not so sure i like the lease, unkless that is your only option

I have never leased. I looked at leasing a couple of times but it always seemed to be a wash from a cash out standpoint. As for leasing a Hummer if you are going to do any off-roading at all you could get dinged pretty heavily at the end for damage beyond the normal wear. I would say whatever your personal circumstances dictate you do. If you can buy or lease and you plan on doing any off-roading I would probably buy. The monthly payments would be higher to buy unless you are putting 18-20K down.

That is the way I am going, but I got a GREAT deal. $900 to start (incl first mo) and $325 a mo for 39 mo with a buyout of 20k at the end (which I am going to do). It worked out great for me cuz I sold my 2000 grand cherokee for $5500 (which will more than cover ALL of the lease payments) and I'll be done with nursing school by then and making the big $$$ so I just might pay cash for the buyout.

If you can wait till, say next September you will get a better lease deal cuz the 5 bills a mo sounds a little steep but I don't know how much down you are thowing?

39monx $325 = $12,675

I don't think $5500 covers it, or is my math wrong?

Sorry I will be done with school in about a year and a half, and will buy it out early, so the $5500 should carry me till then.

I had a great lease on my old 98' Jeep, just a shade over $315 a month with 5k down, paid for it forever, but I went ahead and bought it. I wouldn't lease the Hummer however, as I would do too many mods that I wouldn't or couldn't undo as well as the wear and tear from off-roading. Dunno what your putting down, but 500 a month sounds like a crappy deal to me. My monthly payment on an Alpha will be substantially less then that and I am buying the sucker. Course I plan to trade in and cash down.
