Last minute tire advice
I just want to make sure I am making the right choice on tires. Tomorrow I will most likely pick up a set of Cooper STT 285/75/16s. This is my daily driver( 50 miles a day) and I need it to be pretty quiet and have decent road manners. I know I can't always have both ways, or if I am being super ****. I am going to try wheeling as much as possible, but as everyone knows, that is easier said then done. If I am lucky I hope to go about 4 or 5 times a year. I have also looked at the Cooper ST maxx but have heard that it only comes in a load range E and that it rides like crap. I am trying to stick to cooper because they seem somewhat cheaper and the place by my house sells them and does good work. (Open to others?) I am nervous that I am not going to be able to have a conversation with someone in my car or that the tires will have vibrations at low speed. Any Ideas? Don't want buyer remorse but wants bad *** tires!
You have made a great choice! The Cooper STTs are my #2 tire. Only because I love my MTZs (also made by Cooper).
You will get GREAT all around performance from the STTs. Rain, snow, OnRoad, OffRoad, mud, rock, sand, dirt, etc. The STTs will get a little louder as the tread wears down.
The only thing I can think of to tell you is to get the 305/70R16s. They are the same diamater (about 33") as the 285s but they are wider and to me they look like they belong on an H3! Not that the 285s look bad but the 305s look as you said above "bad *** tires".

Bluetooth? Heck, I talk on my bluetooth in the XJ with no doors and Swamper Boggers on it, 315 MTZs on Mr Blue with the windows down and roof open, also top down in the '64 going 70mph! It is the noise cancellation of the bluetooth unit, not the tires that make the difference.:0
I'm sorry, I thought you where looking for a great all around tire for a HUMMER that is going to be used as a DD and OffRoad. If you are concerned about road noise that much "or if I am being super ****"
then Might I suggest some street tires in a 265 and be done with it.

Stick with the STTs, as I said before GREAT TIRES! 285 to 305 will not be a noticable difference in mileage. you will still have the same outside diamater with each tire (approx. 33").
