Default Keyless entry programming

Is there a way to program a new keyless entry transmitter yourself? Or do you have to take it to the dealership for this?
Thanks!
Chris

The information you seek is located in your Owners Manual. Read it for complete HUMMER enlightenment.

Would one of you who have apparently found this in the manual please quote it or atleast provide a page number.

The closest thing I can find is:
"Matching Transmitter(s) to Your
Vehicle
Each remote keyless entry transmitter is coded to
prevent another transmitter from unlocking your
vehicle. If a transmitter is lost or stolen, a
replacement can be purchased through your dealer.
Remember to bring any remaining transmitters with
you when you go to your dealer. When the dealer
matches the replacement transmitter to your
vehicle, any remaining transmitters must also be
matched. Once your dealer has coded the new
transmitter, the lost transmitter will not unlock your
vehicle. Each vehicle can have a maximum of four
transmitters matched to it."

Unless I'm missing something, why didn't you just answer his question and tell him to take it to the dealer? Lack of a TITTFD emoticon?

hummerfromwa, there may be a way to do it yourself, but everything I've found leads to the dealer.

It is way too detailed to quote it in here, and your going to need to follow the instructions in your truck so it would be better to have them in front of you while program the remote.

I just looked up the procedure. It appears on this vehicle that it has to go to the dealer.

How about a page number to help me look it up.... how hard is it to copy/paste from the PDF owners manual anyway?

Most remotes can be programmed manually at home without any tools or technical skills.
