Hmmm...If I understand you correctly. Youre telling me that I can get any compatible transmitter and program it myself? Correct? I tried to reprogram my wifes and it appears to take the code because the doors do the lock unlock thing as per the reprograming instructions. I've also seen the remotes on ebay etc.

Am I right in assuming that any GM compatible remote can be programmed?

Yes, feel free to contact me. You can always call me @ 610.862.0550. You won't have to replace both of them but you'll have to get them programmed at the dealer!

Usually if you can program the remote yourself it is listed in the owners manual. I didn't see it listed there. I also looked up the procedure in the service manual. Normally if it can be programmed without the TECH II tool it will tell you in there as well. It didn't say so in the service manual either, which led me to believe it had to be done at the dealer.

Hmmm. I found some instructions on the net. It seemed to work. Just that the remote wont function.

I'll try once I get the new one, if it doesnt work then I'll take it to the dealer. I'll give you a buzz tomorrow. BTW my name is Gene also.

Here are the instructions for an 03 H2 that I found:

Method 1 - No Tools Required, Program All Transmitters

IMPORTANT:[/b] All transmitters which are to be recognized by the PDM must be programmed in a single programming sequence. When using this program method, all previously programmed transmitters will be erased upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter.

The order in which the transmitters are programmed will determine its numbering position within the PDM memory. The first transmitter programmed will be transmitter #1, and the second transmitter programmed will be transmitter #2. The number stamped on the transmitter case is for reference only: #2 can be programmed as #1 or vice versa. Additional unnumbered transmitters are also available.

Close all the vehicle doors.
Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
Press and hold the door unlock switch.
While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds[/b] , the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters.
Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.
Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation. [/ol]
