Hey everyone,

This isn't the first time with this issue, but this is what I am dealing with:

I put the key in the ignition and it doesn't move at all. I have had this happen 4-5 times over the past 10 years. It randomly does this for a week or so. Sometimes after awhile, I will finally get it to turn over after messsing with it for 15+ minutes, or a few days later, it finally will turn over. It is really frustrating. The battery seems fine. I have jiggled the wheel. I don't know what to do.

I have read that maybe I have a broken ignition lock, and may need a replacement. Any thoughts on this?

 

Also, the key is not stuck in the ignition. It goes in and out, it just does not turn whatsoever. It is stuck in "lock" position.

 

Sounds like a new ignition cylinder is needed to me.

 

tried SPARE keys? i had to use a new one

 

You can try a tad of electrical safe lube, like CRC Power Lube. First on the key, wipe it clean, then re-apply, and a very small amount in the ignition lock.

Do NOT use WD40 or any other solvent (contrary to popular assumptions, WD40 is NOT a lubricant, it is a solvent).
