Key fob drains all batteries
My key fob is draining all batteries, I've tried different brand batteries but it drains them withing 2 weeks max...
I've also tried one battery I had on my other key fob that has been working perfectly for months, switched it to the faulty keyfob, and after 1 week, the battery died.
anyone know of any solution for this?

is it working normal otherwise?
tricky to work on but with almost any digital meter you could check for leakage current .
should be no current till a button is pushed,then a constant current while pushed,VERY LOW,in microamps i guess.
the testers on the counter at a/z show activity as long as button is pushed. so it is on as long as button is pushed.
more when i get it. im curious! how much current

well,more than i thought,but it is a transmitter. its appx 900 microamps,or just under a milliamp. one thousandth of a amp at 3 volts.
so,if you read ANYTHING,its got leakage. maybe an alcohol scrub? but without checking leakage you can only feed it xpensive batts.
btw the dollar store sometimes has a card full,cheep.
its really a 2 guy job ,4 hands.to get a meter,and the batt connected,tricky indeed. i used tiny clips and a power supply.
i cant tell u how till u get it apart which also is tricky, sharp knife,,,no blood yet!

I don't want to state the obvious but can't you just order a replacement? Seems to me that might be easier than fooling around trying to figure out what's wrong with the one you have.
Then again, I am talking out of my ear because I don't know how the heck much these things cost. I've had a remote for my various cars for the past 15 or 16 years and I've never even had to change a battery before.
Please do let us know how it ends for you. I would also like to know how much one of those darn things cost.
