Those are good numbers. Much better than the H2.

You have to keep in mind that those numbers are promoted by the manufacturer under optimum conditions. I wonder if the HP is monitored at the rear wheel dyno or at the flywheel. Flywheel HP is about 17% higher than the rear wheels do to parasitic losses.

What I don't like about K&N is they do away with the airbox and this allows a lot of heated air from the engine compartment to enter the engine. I would prefer a real CAI(cold air intake).

Very true Bob..But I have it on Hummer Authority that there is about a 61% loss through the drive train on the H3.[:@]

OMG..61%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Typical on a rwd sedan like my CTS it's only 17%

I wish you hadn't told me that Dennis. Now I'm depressed.

Not only the hot air, but I would question if the filter is now exposed to the elements. After looking at the following pic of the engine compartment on mine, you can see why I'm concerned:

Not a vehicle for an open filter judging from your Hummer!!

No kidding. I'd love to find a better way to get more air in and more air out, but I don't want to send a bunch of mud at the filter, either. I know there are snorkels for the H2, but I haven't seen any for the 3. It seems to me that a snorkel is the best compromise. It's taking in cold air from the outside, yet it's high enough that it likely won't get covered in mud. Some would argue that the long tube robs power, but I don't think that makes much sense. The real downside is that in the rain you're essentially pouring water into the intake...
