Question K&N air intake or Safari snorkel????

which do you think would be better for more HP and better MPG?? I want the look of the Snorkel but do you have to cut into the fender/hood to get max air flow?? I know that the snorkel provides cleaner air b/c the air intake can trap oils and dirt from the engine. Any suggestions!? Thanks!! keep HUMMIN!

Personally, I always though the snorkel was a farce. I'd go for the performance air intake.

2wheel... It is possible to do both, however the k&n is an open box design so you loose anything that the snorkel would possibly provide you with as far as keeping dust or water out of the intake. I think the best of both worlds would be an airdoc intake and a snorkel...

I don't believe that the Safari snorkel is a "cold air intake" as much as it is for keeping water out of the airbox, but the experts here can correct me if I'm wrong.

If you are just looking for cold air intake, and are not doing a lot of off roading in dust, then you could probably make a cold air intake out of some vacuum cleaner pipe and fitting that goes from the factory airbox up to the front grille, then add a filter of your choice to the box. Again, this would not be ideal for off-roading.

ok, well i think I will attempt to do both since DAGKANA says that it is possible. Next question however, which air intake is better? air doc then buy a filter or volant air intake system? Im thinking volant? thanks for all of your guys input!!!

FUBAR I'd say go for the airdoc... you're paying alittle more for volant if Im not mistaken. They have you change the air box and I can't speak to their quality, however I do have an airdoc and it does a perfect job, completely up to you.

sounds good, yeah the air doc is alittle cheaper just b/c I believe you have to purchase the filter seperate? Also Dagkana you may know...but where could I get, or who makes, a spare tire delete cover? Thanks again!

FUBAR I don't think anyone actually makes one... in the past there have been forum members that have made they're own, and a common way to do it is a cookie tray (cooking pan) and using the mounting bolts for the stock carrier...
