Default just picked up my H3 last week...

Sorry - was posted in wrong section

Hi all...
I just picked up my 2010 H3 last week... I am looking at making some more modifications to it - but have a few questions... as I'm definitely NO car expert!

I have the factory Navigation...but want to try to make this DVD capable... I asked the dealer if they could do this - and they (along with several other requests) denied they could... I'm certain this is possible - just don't know what it takes...

Also - PLEASE tell me the mpg will increase and level out after 5K miles - I swear I'm getting 9 mpg..and can actually see the gas gauge going down...down...down. I purchased a K&N air filter - (heard they 'might' help some) - but jury is still out... Has anyone had success with this or the 'computer chip' - to help with fuel efficiency? I'm not wanting to dish out $300 unless I can ensure it saves me several miles per gallon more than I'm getting now.

I want to level my H3 - but I read this can affect the smoothness of the ride... how do you counter that?

Laymen's terms please! The simpler the better...

Welcome and congrats!

I think you may have been told correctly, there doesn't seem to be a video interface available for the factory nav:

Gas mileage seems low, I get 15+MPG in my V8, and always got 16-17+ in the I5's I owned. The I5's did get better after about 20k miles.

I can't help with the leveling question, but it has probably been answered somewhere on here.

Thanks Humble...I noticed the post right before mine about leveling the H3...going to try to get this done next weekend...

Love it thus far... knew I'd take a hit on mpg - just didn't think it would be quite the punch it has turned out to be!

Be prepared for a slight additional drop in mileage after you level

Rusty - I can't get the link to work - it seems to be broken???

thanks Halo - my husband just informed me of that... that and switching the 265's to 285's is gonna really send me into a tailspin but then again - ppl don't buy hummers for their fuel efficiency...but I was HOPING to at least get midrange btwn the 14 and 18 EPA estimates before modifications!! grrrr

I was getting 17.5 till I put 35's on it and leveled it. Now I get 15.2... Didn't buy it for gas mileage though!

Im at just over 6k miles on my 09 h3 and im getting 16 mpg with mostly city driving and I have I5 engine. Compared to other midsized suv's the h3 does very well gas mileage wise my 06 pathfinder got 14-15mpg and was a few hundred pounds lighter then the h3.

I see nobody has mentioned anything about your PCM, so let me be the first. Tuning your PCM does many great things from returning your shift points after installing 35's to slightly increasing HP and MPG, but one thing it also does is void your warranty if the dealer finds out you did it. A lot of dealers are pretty lenient about some of the stuff they let slide for warranty issues, but tuning your PCM isn't one of them.
