Default Jingle Jangle

Hey all, I hope I can get some thoughts. I have an 06 55,000 about 3 weeks ago I started getting a jingle type of sound from the front end, it happens when I start moving, it has nothing to do with bumps in the road, it is a constant sound. It has a "light" metal sound to it not heavy or clunky. It sounds like I am draging a key chain down the street. I have searched the forum and have not found anything that seems to fit this problem, there is no vibe in pedals etc.... Thanks

Thanks for the thoughts, I dont think it would be a tranny issue, the sound seems to come from the wheel itself drivers side. Ball bearrings seem like it could be the cause, just based on the sound. I have never had a car where the brakes sounded like this and the brakes are responsive and not low, no grooves on the disk.Is there somthing I am missing with the brakes that could cause this type of sound or even the tranny for that matter. Thanks again

ok. just checking. That is the sound the tranny in my 07 sounded like when it went out.

the cv boot is not cracked?

jack up the front wheel and give a the bearing check. once the wheel is in the air grab the top and bottom of the wheel, one hand on top, one hand on bottom. then try to rock the top of the wheel inboard and bottom of the wheel outboard and vise-versa. if there is play, then it is probably the bearing. you might be able to spin the wheel while it is in the air and check for the noise. it's been a while since i had either of my H3's on the rack, can't remember.

brake-wise... some people have gotten little rocks stuck between the backing plate and the rotor. might be worth taking off the front wheel and checking the caliper... make sure everything is jake. clips/pads loose, etc.

driver-side front body mount... is the bolt tight? would be move of a squeek.

just some thoughts to thrown into the mix.

maybe PM f5 and see what he thinks.

good luck. Post your findings.

Thanks again for the info. "whatever" I will lift the front end tomorrow and check the bearings and brakes as you recommended. I will post my findings. When your tranny went out were there other symptoms other than the noise.Thx

Just the noise when my tranny went out. .. "jingle jangle" that's the only reason I mentioned it. Surerly your issue is in the front end from your description.

Get a jackstand under it when you jack if up. Good luck.
