in some situations yes weight will give you an advantage...some times, the lighter the better. Anyone that says a hummer is more capable than a rubicon is very misinformed.

I don't know much about off-roading but I've seen that the rubicon can do trails better than most cars because of the 35 inch tires, the short wheelbase, and the whole car in general is meant to go off-roadins and it's sole purpose is to off-roadbecause when it gets cold or starts raining that colth roof can be a pain in the @ss

the rubicon is better offroad for a few huge reasons...first and most important the Rubi and all wranglers use a solid front axle, 100X's better than IFS(independant front suspension) that the hummer uses. Any honest wheeler knows that IFS trucks are limited in what they can do offroad. Second the rubi offers front and rear lockers, electronic sway bar disconnect , and a few other little gizmos that are off road oriented....I'm not knocking the hummer line at all..I love my h3 and will always own a hummer...just stating that they run a close second to the Rubicon.

I think there will be aftermarket front lockers available (when being the question), I have seen blurbs in the off road fodder that it is being looked into. Somebody posted a thread about a quick disconnect rear sway bar set up for the 3, I could find it if I wanted to look. Not gonna do much about straight axle in the front though, we are stuck withthe IFS, smoother for on road. I gotta go drive one of them 4Dr Wranglers just to check it out, wonder if they mind if it comes back covered in mud???? There is a monster construction site only a couple miles from the Jeep dealer near me. [sm=lildevil.gif][sm=lildevil.gif]

if you go drive one, just be aware that you will only be driving the motor at about 75% power as the computer has a break in cycle for 500 miles until it gives out 100% power. If the locker for the front is a 4low max 15mph like the rear then it will be useless just like the stock rear locker. Some people use lockers for higher speed stuff ...not just crawling rocks. That was my main reasoning for not buying the adventure package.

It goes to 20mph professor, but I note your point as a good one.

Here is a serious question for ya. Do you think the four door Rubi is better than the 2 door for most situations?? I don't mean hauling more people/stuff, I mean terraine wise. Many times a little longer wheel base is better, but not always. What ya think of that????
