interested in H1 non wagon 2001 - 2003 need input
I'm new to hummer and looking into buying a 2001 to 2003 H1 soft top coupe with under 50K miles, clean car fax. Based on research the 2001 should not be affected by the #8 defective cylinder? I've been a lambo and bentley owner and luckily these two cars required less than expected annual maintenance. What is the average annual maintenance for the above vehicle in a dollar amount based on your personal experience with ownership? Thanks ya'll!

You should not have the #8 issue. Maintenance depends on how you drive it, how much you can do yourself and how much you drive it. A big factor is how current the maintenance is when you buy it. If it is current and you do nothing yourself figure $2500.00 per year. Mine are much less but I do much of the work myself.

Do this every 12k, and oil every 3k:
Change engine oil and replace filter.
Clean or replace air filter.
Replace fuel filter element.
Change 4 geared hub oil.
Change axle oil.
Change engine coolant.
Change transmission and transfer case fluid.
Change transmission filter.
Wouldn't recommend going to the local Pep Boys and expect them to do it correctly.
It's not bad if you do it yourself. I normally don't service my own vehicles but I do now.

V-tek,
thanks for the list. What's your estimate of cost to have these services professionally done?

You should be able to cruise at 70 mph without any problem. Maybe 75mph. The last time I had a "C" service done at a dealership was 8-9 years ago and they charged me $1250.00. That was at a real Hummer dealership that dealt with H1s. Not sure what a place would charge now. I do the service now and it costs me a couple of hundred dollars.
