Default Installing Pioneer Avic f700BT

Just purchased the F700BT unit yesterday and am looking for the kit to install it, found it on Crutchfield for $12.99 plus shipping but have a question. With the wires that the redio and the kit comes, will this retain the Onstar and any other goodies that came with the monsoon system? I am hoping someone else installed this or a similar unit.

Update: Just got off the phone with the Crutchfield rep and was told I need to purchase the GM integration adapter and the antenna adaper $100 and $10 each to make the GPS and the antenna for the radio work. Anyone can confirm this or are there any cheaper workarounds ? I don't even subscribe to Onstar but I guess it also takes care of the amplifier and door chimes, can anyone confirm any of this?

I had gone throught 2 of the hundred adapters for the door chime. For the 3rd I went to walmart and got one for 20 bucks. Year and a half laer it still works. I do not use onstar so I did not buy the box for that. The install is real easy, just take you time.

the door chime is one thing, but what about the adapter for the amplifier for monsoon system, they have that at walmart? do u have any part numbers ? I am handy and can install this thing but If I have to figure out how to substitute parts I would probably need assistance.

Crutchfield guy told you right. There is a GMOS interface that you will need to retain OnStar and all the door chimes, etc. If you bought your Pioneer Avic from them, they should have offered you the GMOS interface at a significantly reduced cost. There is a GMOS interface for the Monsoon stereo and one for the non-Monsoon stereo.

I did not have the monsoon system, so I did not have to deal with that. And I do not have the part numbers. Gut at a local stereo shop told me to go there for the cheaper one. Do not think he was supposed to tell me that but I am glad he did. Most local shops will help you out. I got the mounting kit and the first door chime box at car toys. And car toys sent me to Wal-Mart for the cheap box, they were out of a replacement one and it was still under warranty, so I was not happy about no stereo in the car. But the mount/face kit was about 20 bucks there.
Pretty sure you could get something local for the amp hook up as well, if anything they can get you going in the right direction.

No I did not get the radio from them, its hard to find this unit as it was discontinued and the models they have in stock are way too expensive to be worth purchasing even though all these items come free with them through crutchfield. I already found all these adapters at about half price and less on ebay so I am not planning to buy from crutchfield, but if I can find them locally at a similar price that would be great.

I installed the Avic 710BT. I agree, Crutchfield's prices were crazy expensive. I bought mine from Sonic Electronix as well as my GMOS interface cable. I bought the head unit dirt cheap, if I remember correctly it was less than $400. I bought the cable there for $69. Cheapest place I could find it in stock. Best Buy and local car stereo shop wanted $129. My factory stereo was not the Monsoon System so my GMOS cable is a little different. This is what you need http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120GMOS...r.html?tp=3486

Yup thats the one the guy from Crutchfield pointed me to, I found it on ebay at around $50 to $69 Buy It now price so a lot cheaper. Also the antenna for about $3.70 and the mounting kit about $15, all with free shipping, will be saving about $50 to $60 over Crutchfield. I am hoping all this comes with instructions and I have no problem installing it myself. Anyone have any good instructions on how to remove the main dash faceplate to get to the radio?

Guys, are there any instructions here on how to remove the dash faceplate to get to the radio ? Also any idea what gauge are the speaker wires behind there? I want to buy some of those wire splicers but they all go by gauge and I am not sure which ones to get.

I think there may be a write up under audio visual on here or that other forum CHO
I am pretty sure you can put your fingers in the accessory power outlets and grab onto the faceplate and pull out. If I can find that write up I'll send you the link.
