Ignition Switch???

Wondering if u guys can help. My h2 is having some startup issues. I go turn the key to on just prior to starting it and everything is good. I go to crank it and it acts like it wants to start but then it dies. The dash lights then start to flash on and off to the cadence of the door chime and exterior lights remain on. Turn the keys to off and pull them out, put them back in and turn it to the on position just before cranking and all is well then try to crank again and the light show happens again when the engine stalls.

Can someone tell or even better show me where the starter is?
How about the fuel pump to change it out? Can I go though the interior under the rear seats?
By the way it's an 03 h2 and i currently have the steering plastics off to possibly check out the ignition switch.
Is there a way to see if the big gray fuses are blown?
I'm rather mechanically inclined just never learned how to fix or troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Also wife reported that the airbag light came on and she couldn't adjust the driver seat elevation but front back and all that worked.

What is the part I'm looking for?

Are you positive your battery is 100 percent. Mine acted a little bit like this and it was the battery on the way out. Get your battery load tested. I would talk with a mechanic or dealer before I started replacing parts.

Thanks for the response I will start there. Wouldn't it jump though if it were the battery? I mean I am able to charge it and work on it for a bit. It won't even turn over while connected to the charger.

I dont think either of those two pictures look like the ignition switch you need.

The H2 takes a very high cold cranking rate battery like 820 cold cranking amps or higher. Don't let someone sell you a battery below 800 cc amps.
Don't think your charger jumper will do that. I would at least pull the battery and get it load tested.

When mine went you would turn the key and it would try to start and then go dead and the lights would come on. Also if you do get it started a low battery or shorted cell could be triggering warning lights because of low voltage. It does not cost anything to get your battery checked and then you know you have a good starting point. The H2 needs lots of battery juice to run correct. If your battery is good then start checking out the other items you talk about.

best of luck.
