I raced a car and they didn't win
Well dammit, I'm gonna tell this forum that I DID INDEED drive over 140mph several times in my 50yrs. 3 times in 2 different Ferarris and 4 times in my 95 Trans Am. Did I do it in a school zone or on a city street? No phukin way...with a little forthought and some accountability you can pick your spots and enjoy the thrills of high speed driving. This pastAugust I railed the TA up to 140mph and right back down on a test run after the new distributor I'd put in it. Hey I had to test it out...I traded it in on the H3!! Where did I do it? On a razor straight 5 mile area of the local interstate. A place where you can see everything and there's no exits. I also routinely exceed 100mph on my old Mach Z and my best rip was near 125 on the speedometer, so probably just a tick under 120 actual. But again I have a perfect place for that.
My point? This thread is funny. What's even funnier is that I traded the TA for the H3. It's like moving to a different planet. I can never go back and care less about how fast it is. My '02 Grand Cherokee has the V8. It feels like nitrous by comparison to the H3. And I used to think it was slow

Good morning all. No- GREAT morning!
I am happy to report that, as of this morning, I am a changed man. I simply had not had the opportunity, thus could not understand the sheer exhilaration it provides, to street race in an H3 doing 70 in a 25. Man, I tell you, you have not truly lived life to it's fullest until you've done this.
On the way to my office this morn, sitting at a light, this little punk in some type of little car pulls up beside me. He looks at me with that telling look that suggests he's going to try and gun it to get in front of me. Well, I won't have any of that! Imagine what it could do to my pride!?! I'm in a Hummer damnit! Who does he think he is?
Anyway, it's a 25mph zone, and I know it's stupid, but when the light changes, we both put it to the floor.
Well, let me put it this way-I wiped the road with his ***!
To top it off, I managed to get a shot of his loser face just before he completely broke down.
Eat that you little sh*t!

Maybe you're one of those drivers I hate driving behind, the kind that drive 30 in a 35, or 40 in a 50. Maybe you're the type that won't turn right on red even though there is no sign preventing you from doing so.
If you don't want to drive fast that's your perogative, but not everyone has to bend to your will.
I've always been the type of driver to hit the gas at the light getting up to the speed limit as quickly as possible, I don't feel the need to take 5 minutes just to reach 35. There is a 50mph straight away on my way to work. When taking off from the light, I'm always in front because I hit the gas. That isn't from trying to prove a point, that's just how I drive. Later on that same stretch people pass me doing 65-70 because I'm only doing 60.
I haven't had a ticket in roughly 8 years, so obviously my driving isn't that bad. You're taking one event and turning it into the crime of the century. You're too tense.
You guys! [sm=sigh.gif] Play nice. Let's not turn this into name calling derogations.[sm=nothatway.gif]No more fuel on the fire please. Jest is fine, razzin ain't gonna kill nobody, but we need not go any fruther. I always ask nice the first time.

This thread is hilarious. [sm=icon_rofl.gif]Of course the H3 is not a race car. I enjoyed pool_shark's post because he was just saying it's not a pushover all the time.

You KNOW I have to comment on this one
My wife was in a bad accident 3 weeks after I met her because of stupid **** like this. It caused problems for her for almost a year.
That being said, NOBODY in this world is perfect, and pool_shark admitted it was a stupid thing to do. I don't agree with it either, but hell, I'm not innocent. I'm not going to judge him either by what he did, not at all. I've done stupid things like that, and you know what, when I think back at the possible consequences, that alone keeps me from making those same mistakes again.
I also agree with GreenShirt though. Yeah, that whole situation was F'd up. I am against that, but hell, I've done it before. I'll never ever do it again, but I've never done it in my H3, that's for sure. I have, however raced off the line, but not in a residential area or one where the speed limit is 25MPH.
My point is, everybody makes mistakes and does stupid things. NOBODY in this world is perfect, and maybe if you are a perfect driver, you may be a wife beater, treat people like crap, be racist, sexist, etc, or, he could be one of the nicest people in the world, and just did something other's consider dumb, or was in-fact dumb. Whatever the case is, nobody is perfect, and we all do dumb things.
Greenshirt says he is trying not to judge you by this one incident, but somehow it got a little ugly. If one of you had a best friend that did it and told you the story, you might tell him he was an idiot, etc, but it most likely would be said and done in a few minutes.
Just let it go. It's not worth all the BS. I think the point was the guy thought since it was an H3, it was a slug. He proved him wrong, for his own gratification, and was sharing the story. That's it. Regardless of whether we all think it was wrong to do isn't really the point. I certainly don't agree with it at all, but hell, what's the point of arguing about it? If you want, start another thread about people that drive crazy.
And yeah, I get annoyed as hell about people driving 30 in a 35, don't turn on red with no signs and no cars, and so forth, so pool_shark, I'm right with you there buddy. I say, if you can't drive right, stay off the road. If you are going to hold people up, let them pass, but you don't own the road and make the rules, so stop trying to be the enforcer, because alot of them do, but I don't want to mow a kid or animal over either in the process
