I hate My H2!!!!
You got a LEMON. The h2 is solid. I'm on the same engine, trans and differential @ 168k. My h2 has never left me stranded. .
Just now doing 4.88 regear.
Just find another and be happy you do not need an 08 or 09 if it's too much money for ya. Plus they don't even have the interior ******* dawg .lol

Aside from the new throttle body and a radiator that had a small crack, never overheaded it just bothered me .

Don't forget that 393hp / 415lb/ft 6.2L & the 6 speed tranny are nice upgrades.

Just saved my *** from a merging 18 wheeler that attempted to cut me off.
The 6.2/6l80 is proving to be a stout combination across the GM line. I'm pretty happy with my 08. Since we tow with ours in the mountains I didn't even consider the 4l60 trucks b/c it doesn't have enough gears.
After all was said and done I replaced the following:
Water pump
Fan Clutch
Power Steering Cooler
Thermostat
Heater Core Hose (broke at the plastic Y)
Air Intake (Factory unit was cracked)
Does anyone know where I could find the bulb socket for the DRL's?

That's the one thing I wish my '06 had. Not enough to justify the price difference to me, but it would be nice.
08 and 09 are nice they got better quality interior minus the tatas.
Typically the last year of any gen are more improved. Gives some time for manufacturers to work out kinks and make things better.
but this guy said 40-50k was a bit much. . id take one in blue thou. but i wouldn't give up my baby
Tht being the case my opinion is you can easily make any 03-07 stout with gears, 500 +horsepower. The current 4 speed transmission is great, transmission upgrades can improve the 4l65e. Rebuilt right it is a solid sob
tht can handle up and way over the horsepower most would even push.
at stock its good for regular towing as well but i got the 2500 for tht.
It doesn't hunt for gears and shifts perfect , i can get to 80 -90 mph in my 03 on the interstate with respectable low rpm's. Mine has 168k miles on it stock , it will be rebuilt even more stout when the time comes . 4l80 is also an option as well.
of course this will cost extra but gotta pay to play

My take on the matter is that I'd rather buy one with more mileage, save the $20k, wait a few years & dump a duramax into it for about $60k total and only spend $10k for a major upgrade that will last & fix any sort of electrical/powertrain issue. It's an extreme approach, but it's a better option if you can afford it.
I paid top dollar for my 07 2 years ago because I wanted one with under 30k miles. Unfortunately, I didn't know about the duramax conversions until after I bought the truck and became active on the forums.
Had I known about them, I could have bought a high mileage H2 for ~17-20k and had the full conversion done for between 20k-30k depending on which company you choose to do it and whether you go brand new on the powertrain or used.
sorry that all this trouble had turned you off . mine is a 04 and i had been thru must of the things you mention but i dont hate mine at all . i just found a place in california that rebuilds the fan control if anyone is interested here is the link.
