Default Hummer H3 Won't get above 2.5 RPM

Hello Fellow formers, I was driving today, and my 2006 Hummer H3 (155K miles) wouldn't go past 2.5 RPM and once I got to 50 MPH A smell started to fill the cab of my Hummer. Any ideas on what it could be?

Is your check engine light on? Scan it for any codes?

When was the last time you had your brakes checked?
