I did 2 booster seats and and a baby seat in my H3. The only thing I had an issue with was that it was hard for me to get to the seat belt connect/disconnect button to place the kids in and out of the H3. I ended up purchasing a set of stiff seat belt extenders for my twins and the little one. Worked great,...

As we have another child on the way, we might need a new car. We currently have two children (6/7 years old) a Bmw 730d, a vw passat V6 4motion and a ford escort.
The vw is the wifes daily driver, but it does not have room enough for 3 children`s seats in the back. It only has a two point seat belt in the centre.
So in a while we will need a "new" car.

Our budget is limited, but a used Hummer H3 is within reach. Will 3 childrens seats fit in the back seats?

Next question is, here in norway most H3`s are 06 or 07`s. Almost all of them are within the valve seat (head) issue vin numbers. Should one avoid these or is it not something to worry about?

And lastly, how is the build quality on these, Do they rust alot, break down alot?

Thanks for any replies..
Hello Sir!

I have a 2006 H3 with three car seats in the rear. We had to buy car seats that were less wide, and even then it's still a major pain to fasten/unfasten the seatbelts.

I purchased the H3 prior to having three kids, and at the time it was the perfect vehicle for my needs. (I am always in the outdoors). But now with 3 kids the H3 feels so small. I will sorely miss the H3, but I'm at the point where I'll need a full sized SUV.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts with you, since we both have 3 children.
Also, I somehow evaded the dreaded cracked head issue. I only have 67k miles so maybe it's still to come?

If serious offroad capability isn't a need, consider looking elsewhere for more space.

I have used two booster seats and a baby seat in my '07 H3 and it worked fine. The Tahoe would almost certainly have a bit more room, but not a whole lot more.

Thanks for all replies. I now know that It might be a tight squize to get all seats in. But a friend of mine told me not to get one because they have serious rust concerns. So I have googled some, and it looks like there might be something to it. Any thoughts?

There was also a report on a big national car web site about a guy who had lots of trouble with a H3. It was rusting a lot, and it was leaking a lot, into the lights and inside.

Is leaking a common problem, or did he get a "lemon"?
