Default Hummer H1 Not Running Right - Advice Please

97 Hummer H1 - 55,000 miles on it

Replaced the heads, injectors, turbo, and did a heath diesel water pump system.

Ran great for about 1000 miles, then all of a sudden it shut off on us going up the interstate.

Read the codes and said Injection Pump. Put a new one on and it wouldn't start and while cranking it put out black smoke. We adjusted the timing of the pump a little and it ran ok, then the starter died and put a truck model on and all power inside was dead, found the main power wire cut and corroded in to. Got it back started today and it cranks over fine. It has a crankshaft position sensor code and still runs ruff.

It will start with a little bit of cranking runs fine for about 20 seconds then injectors get loud and it just kills its self with raw diesel smell from the exhaust.

Codes are coming up with Cylinder _ balance system. - Random cylinders every time.

We replaced the crank sensor and start it and it has a mind of its own as in it idles up with no help and acts crazy then again injectors get loud and kills its self.

Its still coming up with crankshaft position circuit code even after clearing.

I really need some advice to get this thing running right as to what to look at and do.

Thanks for any help.

There have been 3 variants of FSD's:
1) FSD's with a 30214 on the case are the worst. This is the first generation and the most prone to fail.
2)***FSD's with a 34264 are second generation, they will either work, or won't work.
3) The third generation number 34583 was designed to allow you to "limp home" by operating for a short while and then fail.

Which one did you you replace it with?
Did you remember to remove the old transistor?

note: New FSD’s don’t come with resistors. It should be #5, you could replace with #9 for higher performance.

Did you use silicone grease instead of the heatsink pad compound?

Where is the number for the FSD located at? It come with the new injection pump. The only number I see on it is 68679 which is located on top of the box.

...could be the dreaded #8 problem? ...cracked block at the thin #8 cylinder?

WOW that sounds like a tough one. Has to do something with timing. Injectors are not in sync with engine or timing chain has slipped, jumped and now cams are out of sync with crank, bad sprocket. I don't know wish I could be more help.

Hope you figure it out soon.
