Default Hummer as a GM Premium Division

Has anyone heard any details or what the impact to Hummer will be with the new Cadillac/Hummer/Saab Division?

I sure wishGM would have divided the brands differently, maybe a division made up oftruck/suv vehicles. Hope Hummerisn't to focus on luxury ratherthe off road appeal.

Where did you hear about new divisions? News to me. My dealer happens to be Caddy/Saab/Hummer. It's nice getting treated like a premium customer with good service, free rentals etc. I could be treated like a Chevy customer, i.e. like dirt. Even as a luxury brand they know I offroad it and it isn't a pavement princess.

Where did you hear about that?

Alrock has some good points, although I get where you are coming from also. My dealer is strictly HUMMER so it isn't going to hit me too much until I buy a new one.

I have heard that they are trying to marry Hummer and Cadillac dealerships. Maybe to correct the crummy service reputation it seems a lot of dealers have aquired. I like being lumped with the premium brands though.

This is all strictly from a marketing perspective. All of the GM vehicles have had common parts for a LONG time so no need to worry about a 2 wheel drive Hummer with auto-lift hatch gate

That is how it is here in Australia (except no Cadillac till later this yesr), basically GM have holden (Pontiac), SAAB and Hummer. Presently, SAAB and Hummer are in what GM Australia call their premium brands. We will be getting the Cadillac later this year and it too will be sold with SAAB and Hummer ....

HUMMER for years has been part of the "Premium" division of GM, it just hasn't been as widely publicized -- which is why most HUMMER dealerships that are teamed up with another brand, it's typically Cadillac/Saab (there are many exceptions, though).

Before this change, each brand within the premium division didn't really report to anyone other than LaNeve who is over all brands. Now, there is a VP that is watching overeach of GM'sdivisions, and McNabb is over HUMMER/Cadillac/Saab.

The good news is that McNabb came from outside GM -- and from what I hear -- is a big fan of Hummer. I'd be scared if the top person at Cadillac was selected, since their focus may be skewed.
