The H3has a welded ladder frame. Only the middle section of the H3's frame is shared with the Colorado; the rest is welded and stamped into a beefier configuration with two extra crossmembers. Hardly the same as a Colorado.
Never the less it didn't hold up well in the crash tests.

Says it all!

By the way...I've seen a car crash or two over the last 24 years and personally I think it did really good. The Gov't downrated it because the passengers knees hit the front bolster but DUH! Move the seat back! Most important was the doors still opened, no passenger compartment intrusion and the floor pans didn't curl up around your feet. Pretty much was a crash and walk away scenerio at 56MPH... Good job H3!

Yeah, I was looking at that pic thinking that it didn't look that bad to me either.

I think maybe the main point was missed. Out of all the SUVs tested the H3 did poorly.
It doesn't say you're gonna die if you're in an accident. The insurance companies look at this data and damage when setting their rates. The H3 isn't the tank you think it is. Enough of the "Chest Pounding"

I don't know about the dealers around the rest of the country, but my dealer here in Michigan (Suburban Hummer) can't keep enough on the floor.

As for the H2...

D Vader, I don't see how the H3 did poorly because I provided the government report. It rated 5 stars in 4 areas and 4 stars only on the passenger side frontal impact. As for the "chest pounding" Huh? We're all aware of the insurance data, we all pay insurance and mine is not bad for the H3. No, they're not tanks, contrary to what soccer Mom's think, they're body on frame vehicles made of steel and plastic. My HUMVEE was no tank either with a fiberglass hood and aluminum body. But when they armored itand itbecame an M-1114 it became pretty close. I will say this, our HUMMERs are NOT HUMVEEs in any way, shape or form. If I wanted to beat my chest it would have been with my team and my gunner bringing the gates of hell to all who opposed us with his Ma-Deuce .50 Cal machine gun. I don't need a puny H3 for chest beating!

I have better insurance rates with the H3 than I did with my Durango or the Mercedes ML320Not beating my chest, I average anywhere from 70-80 MPH, if I wreck it isn't going to matter what I'm driving!
