So this has happened a couple times in the last two months. I will be driving and the wipers will make a single pass. The switch is off but they just come on out of no where.

Has anyone else had this happen? Am I heading for a breakdown of the wipers?

 

Mine does the same. Happens every once in a great while. Can't figure it out. I noticed that when it happens, I am most likely going over some sort of bump like a speed bump or a drainage dip in a parking lot (at an angle) which torques the car front to back/left to right.

 

Last time it happened a bug hit the windshield. Not a small bug but not a huge one either.

 

You must have sensors for the automatic cleaner

 

I wish, no windshield juice+lots of bug juice+wiper =one giant streak of bug guts

I think there was a thread or at least some posts I read on here in the past about this issue.....
