Does anyone know how to remove the factory roof rack of an H3?
it needs a key, and i used the car key but it didn't work!

 

There should be a much smaller, seperate key that you use to turn the locks so you can move the racks.

 

I know this is an old post but I just removed my racks tonight. The key is only to remove the end caps on the cross tubes. That would be done to mount something on the racks such as ski carriers or a bicycle clamp. You pull the end caps off, pull out the rubber strip and mount what you want. The keys secure the ends of the cross tubes so what is mounted is more difficult to steal.

To remove the roof racks, remove the plastic spacer at the back of the rails and slide the racks off of the rear of the Hummer. This is explained well in a more recent post.

Why you guys removing your roof racks, for looks? I got my h3 without them and am considering wanting to get them.
