I'm on my third chrome hood insert, happens to break every Spring! My dealer covered it under warranty...

 

I am using a "Teck" glue to try to glue the tabs back on . Will see???

 

i was rebuilding a '49 ford coupe. the 49 hood had 4 separate letters, FORD, chrome plated cast metal,IRREPLACEABLE!!
they had tabs that went thru the hood and were held with little clips that i did not trust,,,so i carefully drilled a small hole in the tabs and reinstalled them. then added a stiff wire ring to each one. if the clips let go i still had my "precious" parts.

i wonder,i will check to see if that will work here

Never had that problem.
go a lot of off roading still stock.

Thanks all for the info, I have used "teck" glue and re-attached the four broken tabs. I am putting it back on today as soon as the sun gets things warmer after lunch. They were very hard to line up for glue down but look close. They seem to be strong, but we will see. I plan to "lub" each one to make for better installation due to any misalignment.

went to the car wash friday 3/5/10 and a brush less car was tore my hood vent off! and about a year ago the marker lights on top broke off going down the interstate and miss the car behind me by inches! all i got to say if its plastic dont trust it! upgrade upgrade upgrade!!!!!!
