Hood Handle Install??
Just picked up a pair of hood handles. The price was right but they did not come with any instructions. I guess they were extra. Could anyone offer some help. They came with three Allen head screws and washers. Do they mount to the hood vent? Will the screw heads scratch the paint on the hood?? Should they just be centered? I have lots of questions but no answers. Thanks for any help[sm=feedback.gif]
There's info on threads here https://www.hummerforums.com/m_12614/tm.htm Dennis has posted some awesome photos on how to remove the hood vent, and installation.
In answer to your questions, yes they bolt to the plastic vent on your hood, it sounds like you may be missing a screw (probably should be 4), andno, the screws should not scratch the paint.
Good Luck.

The link should be fine, maybe try it again. If you still cannot make it work. Use the "search" function on this site to look for "hood handles" There is a thread regarding it with great pictures and instructions.
The template helps, and requires no additional figuring, but to make your own, all you need to do is take a piece of paper longer than your handles, place over the handle bottoms, and use a pencil to trace the handle base, and to find andpoke throughwhere the mounting holes are. The hood vent has lots of straight edges to measure from, so just figure out where you want the handles to be, and trace the hole locations on the underside. Measure the same distances on both sides of the vent of they both line up OK. Drill a hole large enough for the bolts. Perfection is not necesary as the base of the handles will cover the holes anyways. I am not sure why your hadles have three holes most have one at each end (fort a total of 4), but it does not matter, just trace and drill. You should be fine.
I love the hood handles on mine (I used some from an H2) and I am sure you'll like the look on yours as well. Good luck, and post some pics when you're done!
