I have had tivo for a few years now, we now have four units but can't get them to work like my brothers. He has teh same TIVO units I have but his displays a caller ID banner on the screen everytime he gets an incoming phone call.....I can't get mine to do that. any ideas what I have to do to get an on screen caller ID?

I read that also hunner....don't make no sence to me. I know his displays caller ID, maybe it's cause he has satallite and I have cable? I'm going to call Tivo tomorrow to find out...heck...I don't have anything else to do. Bieng on bedrest is making me go out of my mind

 

Gotta be dish functionality your seeing on his set-up.

You would think that would be a standard thing for TiVo...A value added feature so to speak.

CID or not, I still love thos damn TiVo's.......I time shift like a ****.....

ok, I've been doing some searching around on different forums and it seems that if your tivo box is made by a certain company (Hitachi I think), then it will display caller ID. I'm going to have my brother take a look at the back of his to see who made it, I guess tivo sources out their boxes to different companies or something.

I agree 100% with you Hunner, you would think for the money these things cost it would have this feature in all of them, I mean they already have the phone line hooked up for programming updates and such. I'm surprised they don't o"offer" it for an additional $5 a month or something....I would be one of the suckers that would pay for it.

 

I've done the hard drive upgrade, varioushacks and some other silly crap to mine but didnt really think about the CID till you mentioned it.
