My sunroof opens and closes fine. Once it's closed, if I push up on the sunroof in the back and front the glass moves about a 1/4 in. When I push on the glass I can also see the pivot arm move. I've already made sure all the hardware is tight. This is allowing water to get in during car washes and it makes a rattling noise on hwy. Is there another way to adjust anything? Why is there movement in the closed position?

 

When I open the lid and leave my sunroof closed, I hear the rattle too but no water is getting in my truck. It happens to both my Hummers. Not sure if there's anything wrong with them but I'm interested to hear what others have to say about this.

 

I have access to another H2 for reference. There is a slight rattle at hwy speed. But when the sunroof is closed and I push up on the glass, it doesn't move at all unlike mine :/

 

I will try pushing up on the glass tonight to see if I hear anything. I tried pushing up on the black metal piece that is holding the glass and it does make noise. I will let you know tonight when I get home from work.

UPDATE: I took my H2 to a mechanic, they looked at the sunroof and determined it has to do with the track. GM shows no part in stock with no available date. In other words, discontinued. I'm going to a sunroof specialist later this week to see what my options are.

 

please let us know what you find out. Both of mine makes the noise when driving over bumps but no water is getting in either of my trucks but the noise is definitely aggravating.

 

Same issue with my H2 sunroof. Mostly only rattles at highway speeds, no water leaking. Very annoying. I'm interested in solutions..

 

UPDATE: after taking it to a sunroof specialist, the diagnosis is that the track/frame internals are worn out from use. Parts are not available, the unit as a whole needs to be replaced minus the glass. Track/frame is around $600. Only problem is that the part #25845141 is on back order with no eta. I've tried every online source and received confirmation from GM that there are 0 available worldwide. Aftermarket sunroofs are not an option due to the factory one having a larger opening.

 

Well that sucks. There are so many Hummers on the road, they should really make all the necessary parts needed to maintain these trucks. I don't mind the banging noise every so often but as long as it doesnt leak and I can open and close it I will be happy.
