Help with cold air intake
Went to put the cold air intake on the H2 Sunday and ran into some problems. All the hardware was not there so I had to find some bolts and nuts that would work. But the main issue is securing the black tube onto the engine. I can get the clamp to stay on the rubber piece where it attaches to the engine but the second clamp that is to hold the tube on to the same rubber piece can not grip enough of the plastic tube to keep hold. On the black tube, there is a round lip where it would seem that you have to get the clamp in front of but for some reason I can not get it to hold. After a drive, the black tube is being barely hit with the fan blade.
Any suggestions from any of you that has installed this on an H2?

If i can chip in with two pennies:
I've seen and considered the things like Airraid cold air intakes and filters, and ultimately decided against them for these reasons
First, the factory intake is a closed box. The Airraid just has that rubber thing that presses against the hood, and in all probability the factory intake gets a cooler breath of air than the Airraid, as the Airraid almost certainly sucks some hot air from the engine compartment.
Second, the oil in the filters worries me as i've had problems with those and mass-air sensors in the past.
I do like the high pitched whistle you get at full throttle with the Airaid system, though.
I don't mean to be a downer, and i really don't know how to install the thing. CAn you swing over to where you bought the intake and ask them?

No I bought it off Ebay.
The sound of the air sucking in is way cool and it definitly makes the H2 quicker than stock. Along with the Corsa exhaust, its a super mean sounding rig.
Also, K&N is full of $hit when they say it can be installed in 90 minutes. i had 3 hrs on this thing yesterday and still not fitting right. I think I need to take off the tube and attach the one clamp to make sure its secure b4 securing it to the engine.
For over $300, this should be a real easy thing to put on. But of course its not

My K&N went on real easy and without a hassle in about and hour and a half..taking my time and I even modified the black heat shield to fit snugger to the fender panel and front end area..the biggest headache was getting on that black weather stripping..But a ll in all a piece of cake...Blade, oiling is an issue if you over oil the filter after cleaning..But cleaning should not be necessary for at least 10,000 miles...But the brand new factory oiled on is nothing to concern yourself with in regards to the MAF...I noticed your paranoia about this in another post too..so don't worry.
I bought the plastic one mainly because K&N's site said it gave more HP. Does it really? No clue and I am sure the average person could not tell.
I did remove the tube last night, placed the clamp where it needed to go to prevent it from slippng off and reinstalled. this was backwards from what the manufacture said but it worked like a charm and only took one try.
I can definitly feel it push me back in the seat which was missing with just the exhaust mod.
And when your wife says to knowck it off, then you know you have gotten the desired effect
Well worth the $315 shipped.

With the Corsa exhaust rumble, I hear nothing from under the hood unless I sit there and try to hear it. If I open the hood and have someone use the gas pedal, I can hear it sucking air as it should. I dont really notice any exhaust tone difference but I can definitly tell it has more pep than before. I am still not at the Escalade speed but I am a whole lot closer. Outside of reprograming the computer or doing major engine mods, this is about as quick as the H2 will get. So I am content where it is as I dont want to do major stuff to the engine or alter the computer.
It is really cool and worth the money in my humble opinion.
