Help cleaning it up
Sorry if this is a dumb question but what part is that being mounted in? and is the scanguage a pressure fit or does it get mounted with something?

i ask because i was thinking of a more difficult way fix it... it would probably be a pain.
the easiest way is to buy a sheet of flat thin ABS plastic (like an 1/16 of an inch thick). cut so it fits tight around the top and both sides of the scanner and hot glue that sucker to cover the cuts you already made. it won't look perfect but at least you have something that will cover the cuts you made and it won't require you taking more off of what you already cut to smooth the edges.
That makes perfect sense in my head
hopefully you understand what i'm trying to explain!

I see what it is... yea thats definately the way to go.
Or if you really want to cut it yourself you can mark it off with a pen or pencil and score very slowly and softly with a blade and as you get the straight line, follow the mark you made and press harder each time you go over it. Eventually you will cut through the plastic.
