Thanks for posting the "fix" for your issue! That is what makes this forum helpful. Not only asking a question but coming back and posting an answer that fixed the issue!Did you happen to get any pix of the old shifter cable that separated? Where did it separate from (the trans or the shifter). Inquiring minds would like to know.

THANK YOU!

Default it was shifter cable separation .

id sure like to know more about exactly what happened. the "hard"lock in park is a small solenoid/pin that blocks the shift lever. i taped mine in so i can shift anytime,no key,no batt,no nuttin. you know,if youre on the train track and dont want to see your ride get smashed!!

so im thinking?? was it really?

btw when you push the brake you should hear the solenoid move, you can "fix"it!

Understand the train track they said the cable just broke into.
On the up side when our AWD hummer is stuck in gear turn it off
and the driveline goes to neutral.

im thinking that IF the cable broke,AND the solenoid was activated, the shift lever would move but not shift out of park or any gear. did the lever move freely? if not the problem was the ?solenoid or control switch/brake.

You could hear the solenoid activate but could not push thumb button in and was unable to move lever with both hands. by the way it was in reverse when the cable broke and that is were it was stuck would not move period.
