Default Hello People!

I wanted to take the time to say Hi !!

For the past 5 years I have been looking for an H1. I have a business that is related in the fact that we have 1000's of hummer wheels and tires. I didn't get on here to sell you anything. Only to let you know that I am going next week to pick up my first H1 and I look forward to being part of the group. I do have a few simple questions that I would like to get some feedback from you guys on if you do not mind?

I am not new to forums or off road but today is my first day with you guys and I want to thank you for taking the time to answer!!

Lifts. Is there one company that sells a lift that you guys like over another? I'm thinking I want to end up on 40" tires. Some of the pictures I've see of the H1's that are lifted the springs look like they are at an angle and when I've seen the lifted H1s wheel they look like they flex less with the taller springs. Keep in mind I'm a rookie to the H1's and I don't have any answers only a few questions that have been on my mind.

Another question would be shafts. At what size of tire are you guys doing upgraded shafts? I know if someone asked me that about a dana 60 axle I'd tell them that as a rule anything over a 37" tire you need to step up to cromo axle shafts. For H1's I'm clue less.

If all goes as planed I will be picking up my 2002 open top H1 at the end of this week and I look forward to the mods. Thanks for your help!

Todd

The more you change an H1 the more likely you are to have reliability issues. That said you can do a 2" body lift and not have to change anything underneath. That will get you the clearance you need to run 40" tires.
There isn't much point in going to 12.3 half shafts unless you are going to swap out the frame rails also. I don't think you will have any additional issues going to 40" tires if you are an experienced wheeler. I would try to go to one of the lighter 40" tires though.

Welcome to the forum and I hope you find the rig you are looking for. 3hummers as you can see knows the hummer fleet very well. I would think the 2 inch lift would be sufficient and you could run the size tires that you want. Why invite probems by changing the structure of such a formidable machine as it is... Just my cent and a half.

Hi, I'm new to this forum but not to H1's. I have to agree with the last member's comment and have to ask why you feel you need to run such big tires? I've run and raced on 37" tall tires for years and switched to 39" tires at BFG's request and found that the increased weight put additional stresses on half shafts and threw gearing off which has caused me to return to 37" tires. The H1 has plenty of places where it can be improved but it has unbelievable off road capabilities that take a bit of time to master. I'd recommend you get your truck, drive the heck out of it off-road and wait and see what you need to change to have it do what you want not what the crowd at the gas station thinks it needs. My one cents worth.
