MSN
What was unthinkable not too many years ago has finally happened -- Toyota is now the No. 1 automobile company in the world, surpassing General Motors in sales. GM has announced plans to close 12 North American plants and cut 30,000 jobs.In a nutshell, at some point in the past decade or two, GM went from being a respected and trusted auto manufacturer to what we now see today: Bad GM products, Bad GM customer service. While GM closes North American plants and slashes North American jobs, Health-care costs, GM continues to expand their business in the Middle East. At the same time, GM hopes for a government bail-out at your expense. That's right, your tax dollars!

What an irresponsible statement by MSN... They make it sound like GM just announced today that they're closing 12 plants. Number 1 vs. Number 2, who cares?GM isstill going to sell over 8 million vehicles aroung the world, maybe 9 million, and they still sell almost twice as many vehicles in the US than Toyota. But every article you read makes it sound like GM can't sell a single car and Toyota is just taking over the whole country.

Unfortunately that's typical media sensationalizing. Whatever it takes to draw people in, even if it borders on the truth, or taken out of context. They prey on peoples ignorance of the facts, and then don;t provide any to back up their claims. GM has a problem, but Toyota isn't one of them. Efficiency and customer service are, however.
