Having Issues With Chrome Rims
Just bought my hummer h3!
Its a 2008 with 46,000 miles on it. When I was washing it the other day I noticed that the inside of one of the rims were peeling. It still has some warrenty left on it and I wanted to get the rim replaced. I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

I have kinda the same problem. But only mine are the alloy ones. I have 3 months left on the factory warranty. And i did extend it. I just bought my 2007 slate blue H3 with 50k. I wander if the warranty covers the rims. I doubt it. I do however plan to get my rims powder coated black. Was just curious. I also have this weird sticky substance on my spare tire. I noticed when i removed the cover. Its a new rim & tire, however it has this real stubborn sticky stuff like a sticker melted on it. Some kind of gunk that i plan to remove. I can tell it will take a while. That is after i finish my 3 coats of wax on her
I recommend powdercoating them black. Thats awesome
YES, wheels are typically covered by the warranty. There are even some factory defects in some of the wheels where they will no-questions-asked replace ALL your wheels free.

Hmmm interesting. A little bit of my clear coat has worn off on my front 2 wheels. And maybe a tad of the clear wearing off the rear ones. I'm not sure its even worth it to pay the $100 deductible to get them replaced. Being i plan to get them powder coated black.
IF HUMMER decides it's part of the defect, there is no deductable. BUT, if you have to pay the deductable then it's still worth it. Those wheels cost like 2-300$ a piece from the dealership; and if they start peeling and corroding they will be toast in a few years.
Cool thanks for the tip. Perhaps i will get them replaced. I mean if its free its free. Another quick question. Not to thread jack. But is there any kinda of factory defect out there for the running boards? They are starting to rust a bit. And looks like the dealer tried to spray pain over a few spots which looks horrible. I was planning to pull them off sand them down and re paint. It just irks me when she is all shined up and i look at those running boards. Makes me GRRRRR lol.
I hope so. Im planning to call the dealership on my day off. Its hard to believe that the rims of a 2008 Hummer H3 with only 43,000 miles will have the rims peeling so soon.

As far as running boards, never heard of an issue with them rusting man. I say ditch them

Believe me I agree. Lots of people have that issue. Besides you still have your warranty right? Even if they aren't covered under that wheel-corrosion defect, you should still be c overed by warranty.
