Happier with the H3 than ever
I rented a Jeep X Unlimited for 10 days while on vacation and after driving it the first hour was ready to turn around and change it for anything but. It just felt cheaper and not as solid. The removable hard top allowed allot of wind noise and the interior was not nearly as nice. As for power, I now the 3 is no power house but it sure seems to have more when going up a hill with the AC on. I know people love there Jeeps and that is fine they have proven themself, but as for me its a big no. Maybe I'm showing some favortism but I'll stick with my 3.

I'm just curious how you feel that the h3 has more power? What motor did the Jeep have? What trans? My JK rubicon has the new v6 and a 6 speed manual..and even with a 4" lift,35's and a ton of extra weight it will run circles around my h3....not knocking the h3 but it the power department it ain't close!! Now you are correct that the interior in the h3 is much nicer and the hard top wind noise was a problem that has been corrected on the new JK jeeps, had to bring it in for adjustments and now is really quite.

I'm not sure what engine it was in the Jeep, but being a rental I'm sure it was a base model and it was an auto. Like I said I'm not bashing the Jeep, my girl friend has a Jeep with the 4.0 and it runs. This one just didn't have it and I like the 3 better. The Rubicons are nice I would take one of them without question but this had nothing going for it

I think it depends upon which vehicles of each brand you are comparing. My buddy has a V8 Commander with the full-time 4WD and that is a closer comparisonwith the H3 - especially now with the Alpha IMHO. Man that Jeep V8 and all that space is a bit enviable. I really like his Commander but the H3 has more character. Plus, nowwith 6K miles on the clock I'm getting17.4 mpg while he gets about 13 mpgon a good day...

RE: Happier with the H3 than ever
Comparing a H3 with anything other than a Jeep Commander is just plain crazy. Few vehicles out there can out off road a CJ with lockers and the new JK Rubicons with front and rear lockers and a 4:1 trans case are just plain tough. So when making comparisons let's keep them real. I'll put the H3 up against a Commander or a Nissan or a Yoytota anyday!
