H3's Power
Right now i have an 08 civic Si, i like it but it is just to small, i want something bigger.i had a jeep wrangler before that but got rid of it due to that it was a 4 cyl and could hardly manage to go 60 mph. I really like the H3's and i think they look great with a lift and some 35's. But my question is does it have enough power, or does it feel underpowered? And what mods are there for this I5, also is this engine mod friendly? like How much HP should i expect from Intake/exhaust?
Sorry for all the questions!
Thanks,
*** Turtle
Edit: i dont know what the deal is with the coma's

+1 to test drive. However, I find the 3.7L I5 completely adequate. The only drawbacks would be towing on highway inclines or passing on the highway while already going 70 mph. That's where the Alpha shines.
Minimal improvement to be expected from intake mods. Don't know about exhaust mods.

I went from an 05 Si to my 08 H3 with the 3.7 I5. The H3 certainly isn't a rice rocket and you won't be driving it like you do the Si, no matter how much power you put into the H3. The two vehicles serve very different purposes.
Besides a 600 mile "test drive" with a rental H3 I also took home an H3 overnight before I bought it. As everyone else mentioned, you can only tell for yourself with a test drive.
Intake, exhaust, pcm tune won't take seconds off of your quarter mile but will help with the feel and responsiveness of the H3.
The H3 is much better powered than a 4 cyl Jeep and even a 6 cyl Jeep (though I don't know about the JKs). No problems on highways and hills unlike the Jeeps that fall behind.

Depending on how soon you just "gotta" have one, you might want to wait until the 2010's start to hit the market. 2010Hummer will (if they are still around)drop the I-5 (3.7) in favor of a V-6 (3.6). The V6increasepower by 58 hp and and torque by 30 lb/ft. The H3 will also get a six speed auto transmission and the enginewillcome with GM's displacement on demand. All of this should incrase performance and fuel economy. After test driving an I-5, I have decided to wait things out and see what happens. For my driving prefrences the I-5 just didn'tdo it for me.
